PAST and present Burton Albion stars will descend on the Pirelli Stadium next week after Derby County were confirmed as the opponents for Andy Corbett’s testimonial match.
The 31-year-old enjoyed a testimonial dinner and a golf day last month, and will make it a hat-trick of celebrations next Tuesday with a match against the Rams, kick-off 7.45pm.
And the Championship side, managed by the man who brought Corbett to Albion, Nigel Clough, are set to bring a strong side – including ex-Brewers John Brayford, Adam Legzdins, Jake Buxton and Saul Deeney.
And the hosts will welcome back some popular and familiar faces to pull on the yellow and black shirt once again.
Corbett said: “I’m really looking forward to the evening and hopefully it will come on the back of two great results against Bradford.
“It’s going to be great to have the lads from Derby over and terrific to have some former Burton players back playing at the Pirelli as well.
“I really appreciate Nigel bringing a team and it’ll be certainly be a special occasion for me.
“The ideal scenario will then be to round it off with promotion on May 18th.”
Corbett was originally signed as a striker by Clough in November 2003, and has gone on to represent the club almost 500 times.
The right-back was also an integral part of the team as Burton gained promotion to the Football League as Champions in 2009.
Tickets priced at £10, £5 for under-16s, will be available on the turnstiles.
