COUNCILLORS believe they have got to the bottom of a long-running parking problem that had blighted an area in Burton.

Parking restrictions came into force in Greenvale Close, Stapenhill, last year following years of problems created by parents on the school run.

Residents had long complained about parents who swarmed on the area two times a day to drop off and collect their children from the nearby Paulet High School, clogging up the road.

Yellow lines and a warning sign were installed at the site with councillors confident that the new measures have put a stop to the problem, with council staff continuing to monitor the situation.

After years of problems between parents and residents is appears a solution to the problems may finally have been found.

Bernard Peters, ward councillor for Brizlincote on East Staffordshire Borough Council, said: “The early signs are encouraging with very few vehicles being observed during school drop off and pick up times parking irresponsibly.”
