A COUPLE who first met at a town centre fast food van will see their wedding dreams come true after winning a competition which will see them not have to spend a single penny on the big day.
Vicky Beaumont and Darren Allsop, from Midway, swapped a bacon buttie at the splash van in Station Street for glasses of Champagne after coming out on top in the ‘Mr & Mrs’ competition at Branston Golf and Country Club, off Fairway.
Darren first met Vicky while working for Yorkshire Bank in the town when he lunched regularly at her family’s ‘splash van’ in Station Street, Burton, and the pair are now set to enjoy a wedding worth thousands.
Vicky, who until their first child, arrived was studying midwifery at Wolverhampton University, said: “Mum kept telling me there was this lovely reliable lad who worked in a bank that came to the van, and one day when I was with a boyfriend she pushed him aside and introduced me to Darren and we’ve been together now for six years, engaged for four and have three lovely children, Chloe, Tilley and Ollie.”
Mr Allsop, 26, now runs his own mobile catering business based in Wetmore Road, while 23-year-old Vicky is now taking child photographs as a hobby and working in their catering business.
He added: “Babies and other money priorities have meant we couldn’t afford to get married in the style we wanted so we entered Branston Club’s Win a Wedding competition when we heard about it, and from dozens of entries were shortlisted to the last five and won the ‘Mr & Mrs’ quiz.
“Now, our dream wedding will be coming true on Sunday, September 7 this year.”
Geraldine Beard, operations manager at Branston, said: “It’s a delight to be hosting Vicky and Darren’s wedding in September and we’re extremely grateful to our specialists, including the Bridal Factory Outlet, Lucinda Smith Photography, The Melbourne Cakery, DJ Bobby Disco, Jon Paul Menswear, Capital Limousines, The Dance floor Company, Weddings Are Us flowers and Obsessions Salon & Spa, who will be making sure it’ll be a dream wedding.”
