POLICE chiefs have revealed a blaze that lasted more than seven hours at Craythorne Golf Club is believed to have been started 'deliberately'.
The incident was discovered by officers on routine patrol just after midnight in Craythorne Road.
The building has been left severely damaged as a result of the fire, which resulted in Craythorne Road having to be closed off for the majority of the night.
Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the incident.
Following a joint investigation with colleagues from the fire service it is now believed the fire was started deliberately.
Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey, commander of East Staffordshire Local Policing Team (LPT), said: “Detectives are now conducting an investigation into this fire and we want to hear from anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area last night or this morning.
“Anyone with information that may help our investigation is asked to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 6 of July 18, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
