Crimestoppers: Swadlincote

HELLO everyone and welcome to South Derbyshire Crimestoppers column

Unfortunately this week we have had a distraction burglary (Crime 1) the offenders as usual have targeted the elderly and vulnerable.

On this occasion the offender has stated he is from the water board, but remember bogus callers will use all kind of ploys to get into your home. So please always be on your guard, keep you doors locked and do not allow anyone in without an appointment.

Now please take a look at this week’s list of crimes and see if you can help.

CRIME 1

BURGLARY

At 11am on Wednesday, April 23 a male offender went to a house in Woodville Road, Overseal stating he was from the water board and needed to get into the house. Once inside he distracted the elderly occupants and a second offender has gone to the bedroom and stolen a quantity of cash. Description of the offenders are: White, male 40 to 50 years old, well built, 5ft8in to 5ft 10in wearing a dark blue baseball cap, dark trousers and jacket. The second was a white male wearing a white top, light grey jacket and dark trousers. Were you in the area around this time and did you see these thieves?

CRIME 2

BURGLARY

Overnight between Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23 offenders forced the lock of a shed in Coton Park, Linton. However, thieves did not manage to steal any property and made off empty handed. If you have any information about this crime call the Crimestoppers team now and quote reference: 16587/14

CRIME 3

THEFT FROM CAR

Overnight between Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24 offenders smashed the window of a red Toyota car that was parked in the driveway of a house in Mansfield Close, Swadlincote. Thieves then stole a white and silver iPod player. Do you know where this property is now? If so then call the Crimestoppers team and quote reference: 16754/14

CRIME 4

THEFT FROM CAR

Overnight between Monday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 22 offenders went to an insecure green Peugeot car that was parked in the driveway of a house in Finch Close, Woodville. Thieves took the opportunity and stole a sat-nav system and a pair of sunglasses.

CRIME 5

THEFT FROM CAR

Between 7.50pm and 8pm on Wednesday, April 23 offenders forced the lock of a blue ‘09’ registered Citroen car that was parked in a supermarket car park in Coppice Side, Swadlincote.

However, thieves did not manage to get in and made off empty handed. Were you in the car park around this time and did you see anyone acting suspiciously?
