Dad behind bars for contacting kids

A MAN has been jailed for 12 weeks after breaking the terms of his suspended sentence within 24 hours of them being imposed.

Stephen French was told by Burton Magistrates' Court on June 20 that he must not contact the mother of his children directly, and must make contact via a third party.

However, within a day of leaving court he sent her an email himself attempting to make contact with the children because he 'couldn't afford a solicitor'.

Later he sent a second email, and consequently, received two 12 -week sentences, one for each breach, to run concurrently.
