A TOP keyboard player is to provide music for a tea dance at a church hall.

Phil Brown, resident organist at Derby Assembly Rooms, will play tunes for popular sequence and ballroom dancing on Friday, April 26, at St Mary’s Church Hall, in Hillfield Lane.

Organisers Paul and Laura Spencer are encouraging people to turn up to ‘dance, sing or sit and listen to some wonderful music’ played by one of the best keyboard players in the Midlands.

Mr Spencer said: “If there are any profits they will be put back into St Mary’s charity, which helps to fund the hall for the community.

“Recently we’ve had new windows and a new roof so we are looking after the hall because it hosts all sorts of things for the community.”

There are plans to make the tea dance a regular event if it continues to be a success.

Seventy-four people turned up the last one in February.

Tickets cost £3 each and are available by calling the Spencers on 01283 561566.

Alternatively, they can be obtained from St Mary’s parish office by calling 01283 564216.

The tickets will include a free raffle ticket on the door and a cream tea with homemade scones.

Organisers say there will be a selection of ‘great raffle prizes’.

The dance will be held from 2pm until 4.30pm and doors will open 30 minutes before it starts.

Anyone interested in attending is being urged to buy their tickets in advance as numbers will be limited.
