THE manager of Burton's Specsavers store is moving his focus from eyes to feet as he trains for the Great North Run.

Danny Samson, 39, will run the half-marathon next Sunday in aid of the charity Guide Dogs, which is the organisation supported by Specsavers as a whole.

Staff at the High Street store will be supporting his efforts by holding a fun day at the shop the following weekend.

Store director Linda Joyce said: "We are incredibly proud of Danny and his commitment to supporting one of Specsavers' national charity partners,

"The team wanted to get behind him and so came up with the idea of holding a fun day in store. Hopefully plenty of people will get behind this cause either by sponsoring Danny or visiting us on Saturday, September 13, to take part in the various activities."

There will be two guide dogs at the store for the fun day – as well as a larger than life version of the supportive amimals in the form of Mr Samson in a suit.

The 13.1-mile Great North Run will take place in Newcastle on Sunday, September 7.
