SPRING was in the air for pupils at Church Gresley Infant and Nursery School this week, as they took part in their annual May Day parade.
Little ones at the Pennine Way school took part in a procession around the grounds, led by the May King and Queen, before singing to mark the occasion.
Children were armed with May poles which had been designed and made at home, and parents were invited to watch as the whole school took part in the parade, on Tuesday.
Two events took place, with one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
It was the first time the event had taken place at the new school, which children moved to last year from the old site on York Road.
“It’s lovely. It’s something we all enjoy and it’s a nice way to start the summer term,” said deputy head teacher Jo Cripps.
