THE leader of South Derbshire District Council has spoken of his delight after it announced a council tax freeze for the fourth consecutive year.
Bob Wheeler, leader of the authority’s Conservative Group, said “Since the Conservatives became the majority group in 2007 we have seen the lowest increases in council tax since it was introduced in 1993 and I am proud that we’re now going into a fourth year of a freeze.
“We believe that the council should provide all of the services our community needs at a standard it deserves at a price it can afford
“We have continued to invest in better services. In the last year we have invested £1 million in kerbside plastics recycling and are improving leisure facilities at Greenbank Leisure Centre, Eureka Park and in the Melbourne Sporting Partnership.”
