Derbyshire Police search for witnesses to violent attack in Swadlincote which leaves man with broken knee cap

A MAN was left with a broken knee cap after being viciously attacked in Swadlincote.

The man was walking along John Street near the entrance to Eureka Park when the incident happened.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said : "The victim was approached by two men when they punched him in the face and forced him to the floor where he received a blow to the head and also to his knee by an unknown object."

The attack resulted in the man being taken to the accident and emergency unit at Burton's Queen's Hospital to be treated for a broken knee cap.

Derbyshire Police officers are investigating the incident and are keen to speak to a woman who may have witnessed the assault.

She was seen sitting in a vehicle around the time of the incident, and was later joined by a man.

The attack happened on July 24 but police have only just released details.
