DERBYSHIRE-BORN actor John Hurt has told of his sadness about the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Hoffman was found dead in his New York home last night. He was 46.
Hurt paid tribute to the actor who he performed alongside in the 2003 film Owning Mahowny.
Hurt, speaking to the BBC, said: "I can't tell you how I feel right now. It has hit me very hard."
Asked what the actor's legacy would be the 73-year-old said: "Extraordinary. He was a great actor and a great member of the film and theatre community.
"He was an extraordinary talent directorially as well as actorially.
"He is going to be greatly, greatly missed."
