ONE of science fiction’s greatest bad guys launched an attempted invasion of a South Derbyshire school - leading youngsters to call out ‘Doctor Who, we need you’.

Pupils could not believe their eyes when a red and black Dalek stalked its way through the playground at St George’s Primary school, in Church Street, Church Gresley.

The Dalek, modelled on the version of the iconic enemy that debuted when the show was relaunched in 2005, chased after youngsters and cries of ‘exterminate’ were heard ringing through the school gates.

However, calls to find Doctor Who and his Tardis were quickly called off when it emerged that the one-eyed monster was at the school on a special assignment.

The robot was at the school to find pupil Isabel Edwards.

The youngster has a special connection with the Dalek as her dad built it for a special school project.

It glided through the school gates not to try and overthrow the head teacher, but to take part in a ‘show and tell’ event.

The Dalek even posed for a quick picture for the Mail.
