A MOTORIST from Burton has been banned from driving for 12 months after he failed to provide a specimen of blood to Derbyshire Police.

Marvin Summers, 54, of Forest Road, was stopped by officers in Swadlincote on August 4 and refused to give a blood sample, for which he was arrested.

In addition to the driving ban, Summers, who appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court, was fined £201 for committing the offence.

Magistrates also ordered Summers to pay court costs of £85, in addition to a victim surcharge of £20.
