A BURTON nursery held a week of sports and games to tie in with the star of the Commonwealth Games
Busy Bees nursery, based in Centrum 100, welcomed deputy mayor of East Staffordshire Bill Ganley, to kick off the sporting fun.
The children found out all about the Commonwealth Games, which will soon be under way in Scotland, but also took part in their own indoor and outdoor games, tasting food from around the globe and making their own sporting batons before holding their very own closing ceremony.
Nursery manager Jess Fearon said: "The children were so excited to welcome councillor Ganley to our nursery and there was a real buzz when he arrived.
"They couldn't wait to tell him all about the fun activities we have in store for the week. It was a real honour to meet him."
The event also saw raft of events take place to raise money for UNICEF.
This included holding a 'guess the weight of the cake' competition, with a creation by Birds, in High Street, Burton.
