MAURICE Vaughan pulled on his cricket whites for the first time 80 years ago, beginning an association with his local club that has lasted a lifetime, and now seen him reach 40 years as president.
Etwall Cricket Club will be celebrating the landmark annual President's Day on Sunday.
Club chairman Keith Cheetham said: "Within the community and to club members he is held in the highest regard, due to his massive contribution and dedication."
In the 1960s Mr Vaughan was particularly instrumental in fund-raising and building of the club's pavilion.
Mr Vaughan, who also celebrates his 90th birthday next month, said: "I've enjoyed every moment and have met and made many friends on the journey."
