FACTFILE — History of Neville Brown

NEVILLE Brown was British middleweight champion from November 1993 to January 1998, winning a Lonsdale belt outright and making five successful defences.

He twice challenged for the European middleweight title, losing to Italian Agostino Cardamone in 1994 and Frenchman Hacine Cherifi three years later.

He also challenged for the WBO super middleweight title, but lost in the eleventh round to Irishman Steve Collins (pictured left) in 1996.

In total, he won five national championships as a schoolboy and represented and boxed for England 19 times.

He was the British champion for five years and scooped Two school boy championships, Two junior ABA championships and Two ABA senior championships as well as a European bronze medal.

In his professional career, his record was 40 fights with eight loses and 27 knock outs

He was the British and Lonsdale middleweight champion and undertook several challenges for top titles and, unfortunately, fell short.
