THE Community Sports Trust also manages Jog Derbyshire on behalf of Derbyshire Sport.

The network of jogging groups are organised to help people get fitter and be more active by starting to jog regularly.

Jog Derbyshire project manager Cathy Rooney said: “Not only do you get fit but also they are really sociable groups and you get out and meet new people in your community. All of our groups have qualified leaders.

“You won’t start running straight away - they’ll take you gradually through a gentle run/walk training programme that’s designed for you.

“Our success means that we’ve had more younger members join and our joggers are progressing so quickly that they are running further and faster, getting fitter and starting to enter races.”

Melbourne Joggers for Beginners takes place from 8pm on Tuesday at Health Gym, 71 Derby Road, Melbourne. It costs £1.50 to take part.

Swad Joggers Beginners takes place from 6.15pm every Tuesday from the Swadlincote Ski and Snowboard Centre. It is free.
