IT was a real family affair when Lucy Betteridge hosted an event to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

The 32-year-old was joined by friends and family as they took part in the Ramp up the Red event initiative to support the charity.

They managed to raise almost £1,000 with a family fun day at Gresley Scout Hut, which saw lots of people turn out to see what was on offer.

Mrs Betteridge, who lives in Swadlincote, said: “It went really well; we had a brilliant day. There were more people than we thought would come, and everybody spent lots, which was good.”

She has been supporting the charity for a few years, after she suffered heart problems following the birth of her daughter Kyla.

Other family members have raised money over the last few years, and this year, she wanted to do something herself.

“The research they do is so important,” Mrs Betteridge told the Mail.
