TWO cousins with links to Burton have returned to the town to trace their family history.

Now retired, Kathleen Rodgers, 63, and Susan Parker, 61, have more time to spend looking up their ancestors and armed with a family tree decided to visit Burton, a place steeped in history for them.

The cousins’ great-grandfather Timothy Babb lived in Burton and owned T.Babb - a grocers shop in Derby Road, now Terry Bushell Travel.

The pair visited Terry Bushell’s shop to see how the place had changed.

Susan now lives in Stockton-on-Tees and hasn’t been back to Burton for some time.

She said: “I used to come to Burton regularly as a child with my Dad to visit family. He’d point out the places he used to live.

“The last time I was in Burton was 27-years-ago, the place has changed so much since then.”

During their time in the Midlands Kathleen and Susan also visited family graves. The next stop on their journey to find out more is Devon.
