TWO mums are proud to have started their own business producing baby books.

Harriet Merry and Emma White started ‘Ferdy and Bo’ after they met while studying.

They were inspired by their frustration at the lack of baby books that were non-fiction and had photographs instead of illustrations inside.

Their first book, titled Our Garden Flowers, addresses this directly with an abundance of bright photos of flowers, along with rhyming verses for each.

Writer, Harriet Merry from Burton said: “We wanted to make a series of books that would help children to learn about different things, but would also be a good read for parents.”

Our Garden Flowers will be the first in a series, soon to be followed by Our Vegetables and Our Fruit.

If the first series is successful, there are also plans to introduce an animal series in the future which will include pets, farm
animals and creepy crawlies.

Harriet said: “Children really seem to like it, and wherever we have taken the book so far we have been getting really good feedback.

“We have already managed to get the book in a few gift shops and garden centres.”

Ferdy and Bo was named after Harriet’s and Emma’s sons, Ferdinand and Sam, who is nicknamed Bo.

The first book has received an array of positive feedback on the Ferdy and Bo website.

Primary teacher Rachel Hemmings said: “I think this book would be great to have in our library for younger readers.

“I hope there will be more books soon teaching the next generation about what they can find in nature’s greatest playground – their back garden.”

The young entrepreneurs are selling their book for £6.50 or for £4.99 with discount code, F&B5DEAL on their website
www.ferdyandbo.co.uk.
