THE sustainability performance and community investment of staff at Willmott Dixon’s branch in Burton has helped the company to achieve the UK’s most prestigious commercial accolade.

Willmott Dixon’s townm team celebrated being one of just 13 companies to receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the sustainable development category.

The firm repairs and maintains 5,200 homes in the area for Trent and Dove Housing.

One area the judges highlighted in the decision to grant the award was how the firm invests ‘£1 million annually for improving skills and social fabric in the communities’.

Examples included the electrical refurbishment of the 1st Gresley Scout Groups’ headquarters last month.

Willmott Dixon’s general manager Colin Smith said: “We’re very proud to achieve such an honour.

The company has invested considerable time and money over many years to ensure sustainable development is part of our culture and values. We do it because it is in the best interest of our business, the planet and the people in the communities where we work.

“This award means so much for our team.”
