HIGHWAYS staff are to inspect a road closed today due to flooding.
The B5017 from Draycott in the Clay to Uttoxeter is currently closed and diversions put in place with warnings to motorists.
Mike Maryon, cabinet member for highways and transport on Staffordshire County Council said: “The flooding has been caused by water running off the fields. We have inspected the area and while the road gullies are working, they have simply been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of water.
“The county council invested £300,000 to help clear and survey the region’s gullies in preparation for winter weather. Once the flood has subsided, our team will inspect the area again to ensure that the flood has not caused a build-up of silt and further action will be taken if required.”
