DISCUSSIONS are under way to allocate £30,000 of funding for projects aimed at preventing flooding in Rolleston to the parish council.
Ditches in the village would be cleared using the money, which has come from the Environment Agency.
It is hoped that the work on downstream ditches and, subject to cost, also to upstream ditches, will help reduce overall flood risk to the whole village.
It will protect more properties more often, rather than helping a very small proportion of individual properties following a one-off event.
Subject to agreement from landowners, the work should be complete by next spring.
The issue will be discussed and voted on at the next meeting of Rolleston Parish Council, at 7.30pm on Monday.
