A FLORAL charity has been given a pat on the back after raising £1,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Members of the Tutbury Flower Club presented the large cheque to the local air ambulance charity which was made possible by well-supported fund-raising events throughout the year.

Jo Bailey, fund-raising manager of Midland Air Ambulance, gratefully received the donation on behalf of the charity and praised the work of a relatively small club to have raised such an amount.

Rebekah Skinner, Tutbury Flower Club committee member, said: “The total we were able to donate was solely due to the generosity of local people who supported our events throughout the year.

“Our main fund-raiser was a fashion show held in September by Bonita, of High Street, Tutbury. We sold all the tickets available for the event, and had a fabulous evening of ladies fashions and accessories plus a superb raffle with prizes donated by many local businesses.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the year and look forward to meeting up again in 2013.”

Meetings are held at the Tutbury Institute, in High Street, Tutbury, every second Wednesday of every month, at 7.30pm.

Further information is available phoning the secretary on 01283 813856.
