THE hunt has begun to find the person responsible for one of the worst cases of fly-tipping ever seen in North West Leicestershire.
The huge pile of rubbish was dumped near Castle Donington, on the former power station site in Trent Lane.
Council officers have begun sifting through the heap, which contains a mix of plastics, wood, textiles and piping, in the hope of finding something that identifies the perpetrator.
It could be a week before the rubbish is cleared, while environment experts gather evidence.
Officers said there was enough rubbish to fill three garages and that a vehicle would have had to have made several trips to the site to discard it. Any witnesses have been asked to call 01530 454545.
North West Leicestershire councillor Alison Smith called it a ‘horrendous case of fly-tipping’.
