A SOUTH Derbyshire school at the heart of Swadlincote’s sporting community has teamed up with Newhall Football Club on the pitch.

The all-weather pitch at the Pingle School, in Coronation Street, is used by the junior football team each week for training and as one of the main venues for Burton Junior Football League matches every weekend.

Newhall Football Club, recently highly commended in the South Derbyshire Sports Awards, presented a cheque to the school to help pay for new football nets at the facility.

Lee Cantrill, committee member of Newhall FC and manager of the under 10 Tigers team, told the Mail: “We are only too happy to pay for the new nets.

“As one of the main users of the pitch, we wanted to make our contribution to the facility and help forge a sporting partnership with The Pingle School.”
