PEOPLE in East Staffordshire who are worried about their risk of high blood pressure and stroke are being urged to stop off at a 'pressure station' during 'Know Your Numbers' awareness week.
East Staffordshire Borough Council has teamed up with Dean & Smedley pharamacies and Blood Pressure UK to set up a scheme which allows people to find out their blood pressure and discover how to improve the score.
In the week beginning September 15, people can get checked for free in sessions running at Burton's Meadowside Leisure Centre on Tuesday and Thursday between 9.30am and noon. People can just turn up.
Councillor Robert Hardwick said: "East Staffordshire Borough Council recognises the importance of working with health providers.
"Through the healthy borough initiative it proves its commitment to ensuring residents have the best possible access to health awareness.
"The council is proud to once again be supporting such a worthy health awareness day.
"The activities we have arranged are designed to educate and inform about the health complications associated with high blood pressure – in short, to get to know our numbers."
