NEW CCTV images have been released by detectives hunting a sex attacker who lured his victim from a nightspot.
Police hope the pictures may provide a vital breakthrough in their eight-month investigation.
The security camera photographs show a vehicle thought to have been used by the suspect on the night he sexually assaulted a woman he met at Bullit in High Street, Burton.
He is believed to have used the silver three-door coupe – possibly a BMW – to drive her to a secluded spot in Knights Lane, near Repton.
After the attack, he took the 23-year-old victim – from Newhall – back to Burton
A police spokesman said today: “In the early hours of the morning of Sunday May 5, a 23-year-old Newhall woman was driven from the Bullit bar in Burton to Knights Lane, near Repton, where she was allegedly assaulted. He then drove her back to Burton.
“Her assailant, who she met in the bar, was driving a three door silver coupe-style car, possibly a BMW.
“A CCTV image of a man was issued when the initial appeal was made and several people came forward with information.
“Officers have now released CCTV images of the car they believe was used by the suspect.”
The initial images, also shown here, were released in July, but the information they prompted was insufficient to lead to any arrests, the spokesman said.
She added that officers had been working to identify the car on CCTV footage for some time, which was why the images had only just been released.
