AN event to raise money for an MS charity saw more than £4,000 collected.
Mick Goodwin revealed that a recent fund-raising gala, featuring speakers and table top sellers, helped raise a total of £4,300 for the MS Society.
He said: “We booked the Lyric Rooms at Ashby and two speakers, Ray Parlour and John Stiles.
“We then went about the task of selling tables to businesses and persuading people to donate prizes for the raffle and the auction.
“The response was amazing and, before long, we had sold all the tables.
“We never imagined in our wildest dreams what a great success the night would be and everybody who came was so generous with donations.
“If the money raised helps research to find a cure for MS, both for my two friends and all other MS sufferers, then it as been very worth while.”
