CATTON Hall was a hive of outdoor activity at the weekend, as around 15,000 people descended on the site for the annual BASC Gamekeepers’ Fair.
Activities for the whole family ran over the two-day event, with many things put on especially for children.
Fans of outdoor pursuits – and those who just wanted a day out – came from all over the country for the event, which has been running since 1976.
Activities included bushcraft, clay shooting, cooking demonstrations, archery, air rifles and many more things. There were also stalls and displays from local businesses and other outdoor associations.
The dog shows also proved popular, with ‘as many dogs as people heading to Catton for the weekend.
“It was excellent – a really good day.
“We try to encourage children to try activities outdoors, so they can enjoy what is just on their doorsteps, but we also want to encourage adults to learn more about the outdoors.
“We know that interest in this sort of thing is growing,” event coordinator Sue Eckroyd told the Mail.
