MORE toddlers in Burton are receiving top quality childcare, education chiefs have said.
A total of 84 per cent of childcare providers in Staffordshire are now rated as good or outstanding.
Staffordshire County Council said it meant two-year-olds were getting the best possible start in life.
Mike Lawrence, cabinet member for children, said: "With the number of good and outstanding childcare providers on the rise across the county we are keen to make sure that parents are accessing the free places.
"We have been incredibly pleased with the success of the scheme so far and now have over one thousand parents benefiting from the free childcare and freeing up time to retrain or find a job. Furthermore, eight out of ten children entitled to the free childcare have already taken up the free hours."
The council's Think2 scheme, which provides free childcare, is also reaching more families than ever before.
