A 17-year-old from Barton under Needwood is set to represent Staffordshire Guides on a two-week trip to Europe and has been handed a £200 grant from the Barton an Dunstall Key Trust to help with her travel costs.
Following a tough selection process in competition with a dozen other Guiders from across Staffordshire, Alice Green was selected and is now raising the £800 two week trip cost at car boot sales and planning other fund-raising activities including bag packing at a local supermarket.
Together with eleven other girls representing the remaining counties in the Midlands region, Alice, a student at Barton’s John Taylor High School, will be visiting Holland, Germany and Liechtenstein, en-route to Italy where she’ll be spending time in Verona, Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Trieste & Pula before flying home.
“This wonderful trip to so many exciting places will be a terrific personal development opportunity, boosting my confidence and increasing my leadership skills,” said Alice, a young leader training to become an adult leader with the second Barton Rainbows Group.
“I’m very grateful to the Barton and Dunstall Key Trust for their grant that’s really boosted my fund”
