AN environmental campaigner for East Staffordshire has hit out at the Government’s energy policy.
Chris Crean, campaigner for West Midlands Friends of the Earth, spoke out after Ofgem chief executive Alistair Buchanan warned against Britain’s reliance on energy imports.
Ofgem regulates the electricity and gas markets in Britain.
Mr Crean said the warning from Mr Buchanan was a sign that the Government’s energy policy is moving in the wrong direction.
He said: “The Government’s reckless dash for gas will only make matters worse.
“Ministers must urgently tackle rocketing fuel bills by introducing a comprehensive energy saving programme and ending the nation’s reliance on increasingly costly fossil fuels.”
