CONSTRUCTION has now begun at a new housing development in South Derbyshire.

Developers St Modwen revealed that a sod cutting ceremony had now taken place at its new Manorfields scheme just off the A444 on the outskirts of Castle Gresley.

The new development will boast approximately 215 homes when complete.

Guy Gusterson, managing director of St Modwen Homes, said: “We are currently laying the foundations for the first phase of houses at Manorfields, including what will be the show home at the development.

“This is our first residential scheme in Derbyshire.”

Paul Daniels, site manager of Manorfields, said: “Over the past few weeks we have been busy commencing the site enabling works in addition to the access and estate roads on the development.

With construction now under way, people should soon be able to get a feel of what the development will look like.”
