IT wouldn't be September in Abbots Bromley without it.

The village's traditional horn dance, which has taken place for hundreds of years, is to return on Monday.

This year's event will begin with the collection of the horns, which are thought to date back as far as the 11th century, from the village church at 7.45am.

Villagers take immense pride in the Abbots Bromley horn dance, which has taken place for 500 years.

The dancers, comprising six deer men, a fool, hobby horse, bowman and Maid Marian, perform their dance to music provided by a melodian player, through the village and its surrounding farms.

A 10-mile walk will finish in the heart of the village.

A full schedule of this year's horn dance can be found at www.abbostbromley.com
