BURTON nine-year-old Harrison Boam will take to the track at the LG Arena tomorrow in front of more than 10,000 motocross fans to begin a new chapter in his fledgling racing career.

The Newhall Community Junior School pupil makes his debut in the Arenacross UK series as a wild card in Birmingham’s round three – his first venture into the world of indoor motocross.

Proud father Adrian Boam said: “We are very proud of his achievements and the time and expense is more than worth it to help Harrison succeed in his ambition to be a full-time motocross racer.

“Harrison is currently helped by several local businesses and wishes to thank them for their continued help.”

Harrison has been riding motorcycles since he was four years old, and racing competitively since the age of six.

He started racing in the grasstrack series in Yorkshire, having great race success in the auto class, before progressing to motocross in 2012, riding for Coventry Junior Motocross Club and finishing his first full season third in the 50cc auto class.

Last year saw a new challenge for Harrison, moving to the bigger and more powerful 65cc class, but again he managed to secure a great third position in the championship for 2013.

This year, the youngster is continuing with Coventry, but the indoor arenacross maybe the start of a new chapter in his racing.

An international field of 24 professional riders, 48 youth racers and five freestyle motocross stars from 10 different countries will take part on Saturday.

Anyone wanting more information regarding Harrison, his racing results, or any help they can offer, should email adrianboam@yahoo.com.
