A HEAD teacher of a South Derbyshire junior school has spoken of his joy at receiving praise from education inspectors.
Roger Averis told the Mail he was ‘very pleased and happy’ that the good work of teachers and staff at Woodville Junior School had been recognised in its latest Ofsted report.
Yesterday the Mail revealed that the High Street school received a glowing report which rated it as good in all areas – up from its previous rating of satisfactory.
Mr Averis said: “We are very pleased and happy that our good work has been recognised and that our good and outstanding teaching was seen by the inspection team.
“Hard work had led to the good improvements since the last inspection and the high staff morale is evident which shows we are working well together as a team.
“The governors were also highlighted as working very effectively.”
The Ofsted report praised the quality of teaching, in particular that in maths, as well as the good behaviour of pupils.
Mr Averis added: “The pupils are pleased that their good behaviour was seen and commented on.
“Lots of children are very proud with the way they conduct themselves around the school.”
