PEOPLE in Burton who work Monday to Friday will miss out on the warm weather yet again this week, according to the latest forecast.

Many were looking forward to soaking up the rays at the weekend, with temperatures predicted to rocket as high as 31C tomorrow and Friday.

However, those hopes have been dashed by warnings of floods, thunder and lightning storms and hail.

The Met Office's yellow severe weather warning was released on Monday, and by Saturday morning it covers the whole of the East Midlands.

A spokesman for the Met Office described some of the expected hazards.

He said: "Areas of heavy thundery showers may develop over England and Wales from early on Saturday, before moving northwards throughout the day.

"The development of these is uncertain, but where they do form torrential downpours are possible, with frequent lightning, hail and strong gusts.

"Significant flooding is also possible where these occur from surface water as well as small, fast-responding water courses."
