TRENT Rowing Club came away from Lincoln victorious, after winning five events at their final long-distance head race of the season.
All competitors completed the three-kilometre upstream course along the River Witham, fighting against an extremely strong headwind.
Trent’s fastest crew of the day came in the Men’s Intermediate Level Two Quad of Matthew Pountney, Richard Dowell, Dan Corden and Duncan Williams, but unfortunately they were not quite fast enough to win their event.
Showing consistency in the meets, the fastest winning crew was again the Women’s Quad of Jessica Gilbert, Jade Smith, Lucy Fielding and Lucy McQuoney.
There was also a fantastic result for the Women’s Junior 15 Coxed Quad of Emma Harlow, Sophie McMahon, Abbie Hutton, Evie Davies an young cox Millie Bento.
This was their first win, thrashing rivals Newark RC by 38 seconds.
Fielding and Harlow then teamed up with Niamh McDonagh, Sophie Winfieldale and again coxed by Benton to win the Women’s Novice event.
There were also wins for single scullers Scott Smith (Junior 15) and Lucy McQuoney (Junior 16).
Trent juniors are now training hard in preparation for the East Midland trials which will take place at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham this Sunday.
