A DRIVER led police on a high-speed chase through the streets of South Derbyshire.

The 34-year-old man sped through villages including Willington and Repton in the early hours of this morning, trying to evade officers having originally failed to stop in Derby.

The chase ended in Burton, with the driver getting out of the Seat Leon in Cumberland Road, Stapenhill.

He then ran into a house where he was arrested.

Derbyshire Police said it was currently unclear why the man, who is from the Burton area, was so desperate to get away.

A spokesman said: “He originally failed to stop in Derby at 1.40am.

“He has driven off at speed and gone from Derby and out through Stenson Fields, Barrow-on-Trent, Willington and Repton.”
