Probe after man shot in car park
A man has been shot in the back in a pub car park by two men who then fled the scene.
At just after 4pm on Friday, police received a report of the shooting at the Six Mile Bridge Inn, Seaton Burn, North Tyneside.
It is believed the man, aged 54, was getting out of his car when he was shot in the back by the two men, who then drove off in a white van towards the A19.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Initial enquiries suggest this was not a random incident.
"A police operation is under way to apprehend those responsible and patrols will be increased in the area to reassure the local community."
At present his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to contact them.
