Watson fails to double up
Heather Watson could not make it two wins in two days as she exited the women's doubles at the first-round stage.
Watson, who saved three match points on her way to beating Ksenia Pervak in the second round of the singles on Wednesday, and partner Marina Erakovic from New Zealand went down 6-4 6-0 to ninth seeds Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke.
There was also disappointment for two more Britons - Jamie Delgado and Ken Skupski - as they were beaten 6-0 6-7 (2/7) 6-3 by Polish pair Tomasz Bednarek and Jerzy Janowicz in the men's event.
There was better news, however, for Wimbledon champion Jonny Marray.
The 31-year-old, who won at SW19 alongside Frederik Nielsen last year, has teamed up with Brazilian Andre Sa for this tournament and the pair edged out Lukas Lacko and Igor Zelenay in their opener.
The Slovakian duo claimed the opening set but 16th seeds Marray and Sa hit back to win 4-6 7-5 7-6 (7/5).
