Terms and conditions of entry
The reverse auction will be open for bids 24 hours a day, from Wednesday 6th December 23.59pm until 23.59pm Thursday 20th December 2012.
To enter the competition, participants have to send a text to 88833 with the keyword SNLBID followed by a space followed by a bid in pence. Decimals or negative numbers are not allowed – such bids will not be deemed a valid bid. Any bid containing any additional wording or numbers will not be deemed a valid bid. You will still be charged for this attempted bid. Example SNLBID 125 will bid £1.25.
Texts will cost £1.50. This may vary, depending on your network provider.
Any bids which arrive before or after the reverse auction is open will not be included into the auction. Please note that we cannot take any responsibility for problems your network provider may have.
When the reverse auction closes, the winner will be the person who has successfully sent through a text with the lowest unique bid. i.e., no other entrant has successfully sent through the same bid.
The competition is only open to entrants over the age of 16years. Please note that in the event that you win, you may be asked for proof of your age and if you cannot prove that you are over the age of 16 you will forfeit the prize.
Employees and their families from Staffordshire Newspapers Ltd. are not eligible to enter.
Any unregistered text messages will be deemed invalid.
The prize for the competition is a new iPad 4 16 GB Wifi in black. There is no cash alternative to the prize.
The winner of the competition will be announced on Monday 24th December.
The winner will be contacted by telephone between 9am – 5pm on the telephone number the winning text was sent from.
In all matters our decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
All competition prizes are subject to availability and Staffordshire Newspapers Ltd reserve the right to change them.
If your bids are disqualified for any reason we will not provide a refund for your text costs.
You may bid more than once, although we would recommend that you do not make more than 25 bids in any one 24 hour period. Please make sure that you have sufficient credit in your phone account and that you can afford to bid.
The prize from this auction must be collected by the winner from a Staffordshire Newspapers Ltd. office, within 2 weeks of the auction ending. Staffordshire Newspapers group will not accept responsibility or liability for damages once the prize has been collected. Staffordshire Newspapers offices are in the following towns: Burton on Trent, Nuneaton, Ashbourne, Stafford, Leek and Cradley Heath.
Staffordshire Newspapers Ltd will accept no responsibility for the warranty of the iPad, this will remain the responsibility of the winner and the manufacturer of the iPad.
The winner is required to pay the winning bid amount to Staffordshire Newspapers Ltd. In order to claim the prize, the winner will need to pay the lowest unique bid amount to Staffordshire Newspapers Ltd. Please note this will need to be paid by credit/debit card or cash.
This reverse auction will be run across the Staffordshire Newspapers Titles; the Burton Mail, The Nuneaton News, The Staffordshire Newsletter, The Black Country Bugle, The Ashbourne News Telegraph, The Uttoxeter Advertiser, The Uttoxeter Post and Times, The Leek Post and Times and the Burton Advertiser.
In any 24 hour period during the reverse auction, if the total cost of your text bids exceeds £30.00 (thirty pounds) including network rates, further bids during this 24 hour period will not be valid and although you will no longer be charged a premium rate message during this period you will still pay your standard message rate for attempted bids. This is a regulation the mobile network operators enforce and we accept no responsibility or liability in this regard.
