Welcome to Garden King's Plant Doctor blog, where our experts discuss and answer all your gardening questions. This week I'm talking about Winter garden care and Christmas trees!
Right now at your local Garden King garden centre we are THE home of Christmas! We stock a wide range of great decorations, gift ideas, artificial and real trees to make your home a festive wonderland.
Our extensive range of real trees include Nordmann Fir, Fraser Fir, Blue Spruce, Noble Fir and Norway Spruce. Our cut trees are available in various sizes from 4ft to 10ft and we sell a selection of stands and pots to finish your tree perfectly.
Why not choose a potted tree this year? - these great quality trees are complete with roots which will give the tree all the nutrients it needs to survive the Winter and beyond. After Christmas, un-pot your tree and plant it out in the garden where it will last a lifetime.
We also have real wreaths available which will brighten up your front door and create the perfect entrance to your festive family home.
Brighten up the garden this Winter
Don't let the Winter blues get you down, add a splash of colour to your garden with the plant doctor's advice for adding light to your seemingly unhappy garden. Add heucheras and cyclamen at the edge of your borders for an instant lift. Hide those dull fences and walls with the enigmatic coloured berries of pyracantha.
For an immediate boost of colour why not introduce Winter Jasmine - the cheery, bright yellow flowers are on show throughout Winter and early Spring. Best placed towards the back of your borders (or against walls & fences), this hardy perennial will brighten up even the gloomiest of Winter mornings.
The chilly weather is leaving rodents wanting a warm dry home for the season. Check your outbuildings for evidence of rodent life, look out for droppings & chewed cardboard and materials. Especially keep an eye out in your food storage areas, rats and mice can do a lot of damage whilst spreading disease at the same time.
Where possible store foods in regularly used buildings and in containers which won't be susceptible to nibbling teeth! Don't forget we stock a wide range of repellents and traps to help tackle any winter pest intrusion.
