Homes turn their lights out to honour the fallen heroes

HOMES across Burton and South Derbyshire descended into darkness as part of the First World War centenary commemorations.

Candlelit vigils were held in Stretton and Tutbury, while around 1,000 people gathered at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas to pay their respects to those who gave their lives fighting for their country.

The lights were also turned off at famous landmarks throughout the UK as part of a national campaign to honour our fallen heroes.
