A HUGE amount of money was raised for Sport Relief over the weekend – and people from Burton and South Derbyshire showed their charitable side by organising and taking part in a range of events.

Burton Albion fans Paula and Zoe Whitley took part in the Sport Relief games at the Olympic Park in London.

Paula completed three miles in 27 minutes and Zoe one mile in 16 minutes, both beating their personal bests.

The pair hope to have raised just over £100.

Paula said: “We were flying the flag for Burton, wearing our Burton Albion shirts.”

A Sport Relief puppet show was put on at Sainsbury’s in Burton, as a fund-raising idea with a difference.

More than £53 million has been raised so far throughout the country.

The money goes towards helping those in need both in the UK and abroad.
