VINCENT Simone is one half of the country’s most successful Argentine Tango acts.

Together, with his professional partner Flavia Cacace, the cheeky Italian has wowed audiences since being embraced into the Strictly Come Dancing family in 2006.

However, 2013 was a turning point in both his and Flavia’s lives with neither of them competing in the hit BBC show.

Vincent swapped his dancing shoes for a stint in I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here, and Flavia wed her 2010 Strictly celebrity partner Jimi Mistry.

“It’s time for just me and Flavia to shine and please the people with Dance ‘Til Dawn and our amazing dancing,” said the father of two.

“We had a massive success with our tour Midnight Tango last year – and this show is something completely different.”

“We currently work for four weeks and then have a week off – something we could never do when we were part of Strictly. The TV show took up five months of my life and away from my family more than touring.”

At the moment there are no plans for Vincent and Flavia to feature competitively in the 2014 season of Strictly, which is set to be a very different show with the news of Bruce Forsyth’s resignation.

“Oh my goodness me, that was a shock to the system,” said Vincent.

“I just love him. He is definitely my favourite and is irreplaceable.

Vincent and Flavia’s latest show combines a classic love story and brings vintage Hollywood glamour to the present.

“Dance ‘Til Dawn was a big challenge for me and Flavia. It’s a comedy show and there are so many more different styles of dance. We go from a waltz, to an American smooth, to a cha cha.

“There is something for everyone in the show, with a mix of popular music, dancing and a hilarious story.

“We have had standing ovations every night so that makes me happy.”

The dancing duo have had considerable input into the show including the choreography.

“Flavia and I had several meetings last year about Dance ‘Til Dawn with our director Karen Bruce. We put our heads together and Flavia and I have choreographed the ballroom and Latin American dances, and Karen has been in charge of the musical theatre choreography.”

Dance ‘Til Dawn is set in 1940s LA following the romance between a beautiful starlet and her handsome lover.

“There is a timeless tale running throughout the show and we have two amazing actors who narrate the story throughout,” said Vincent.

“We are also joined by a team of musical theatre actors and a live band and singers.

“We started planning this show during our last tour and choreographing our solos since August. I then had to go into the jungle – for a rest and a holiday!”

However, fame comes with a price.

“Don’t get me wrong I love my career but it takes me away from my beautiful family,” he said.

“Autumn and winter were really busy for both me and Flavia. I should have joined her on Strictly and the Royal Variety performance, but I wanted to do something different, something on my own.

“I didn’t really want to do the jungle. People usually do it when they want to boost or revive their career.

“I just did it because I wanted to do something on my own and I wanted a challenge. I was, and still am, a real fan of the show

“I absolutely loved my time in the jungle, but it was tough. I was in touch with nature and going back to basics made me realise how lucky I am to have everything I want.”

Dance ‘Til Dawn will perform at the New Alexandra Theatre from Monday until Saturday and tickets are available by calling 0844 871 3011 or by logging on to www.atgtickets.com/birmingham
