AN investigation has been launched after a horrified homeowner claimed that a bus driver urinated in front of her house in the middle of a busy street.
Bosses at bus giant Arriva revealed that it was ‘looking into’ claims made by a member of the public that a driver on one of its routes had exposed himself while urinating in public outside a house in Goseley Avenue, Hartshorne.
The concerned mother contacted the Mail and alleged that she walked into her lounge only to be met with the ‘shock of her life’.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of her job, has welcomed news that an investigation is now taking place in a bid to try to get to the bottom of the alleged matter.
She told the Mail: “I walked into my lounge and saw an Arriva bus outside my window.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the driver having a wee and cigarette at the back of his bus.
“What I saw was completely unacceptable.”
The alleged incident took place at around 7.20pm on Thursday, May 22, in the South Derbyshire village.
After the Mail reported the incident to bus bosses, Keith Myatt, regional marketing and communications manager of Arriva Midlands, said the company had begun an investigation.
He said: “I have been in touch (with the depot) where the bus originated from and spoken to bosses at the site.
“The driver who was driving the bus at the time of the alleged incident is currently on holiday.
“Until he returns, no further investigation can take place.
“However, when he does return a full and thorough investigation into the allegations will take place.”
