IVANHOE Runners duo Ian Kirk and Tim Sturla finished third in an epic run along the length of Hadrian’s Wall last weekend.
The Wall, a 69-mile multi-terrain ultramarathon which starts at Carlisle Castle and ends at Gateshead’s Millenium Bridge, took place over two days.
Running together, Kirk and Sturla completed the tough course in 13 hours, 9 minutes 41 seconds, placing them 21st out of 230 finishers and an excellent third place as a pair.
Carolyn Osborne and Zoe Allery took part in the Dambuster Triathlon on Saturday and both had an excellent morning.
In her first attempt at the Olympic distance, Allery finished 561st in 2:54:43, including a time of 50:30 for the 10-kilometre run, whilst Osmorne finished in 3:02:02 (632rd) with a run time of 53:42.
On Sunday a massive team of 27 Ivanhoe Runners turned out for the Prestwold 10k, the first race in the Leicestershire Road Racing Summer League.
Conditions were tough with soaring temperatures and humidity adding to the challenge.
First home for the club and fourth in his category was Alistair Chambers, 65th overall in 39:57, followed by Gerard Eivors, who is proving a great new addition to the men’s team finishing, 84th in 41:01.
He was just ahead of a great run by Martin Yeomans, 110th in 42:16.
Clare Fowell was next, appearing to relish the hot conditions by posting a new personal best by over three minutes for 130th overall (fifth in category) in 42:47.
She was closely followed by the quartet of Dave Morse (133rd, 42:56), Dave Hobbs (134th, 42:58, new PB), Kev Wright (136th, 43:18) and Mike Sharpe (150th, 43:52).
Damon Bland (157th, 44:13), Becca Hallam (162nd, 44:27), Nick Rowles (198th, 46:05), Andy Pawley (205th, 46:10), Laura Graves (fourth in age group, 230th, 47:29), Karen Bell (287th, 49:50), Victoria Smith (310th, 50:58), Karen Hartland (320th, 51:07), Rebecca Wilkinson (326th, 51:20), Kevin Marsh (342nd, 51:46), Chris Finney (344th, 51:55), Emily Starkie (372nd, 54:18), Gabby Smith (56:53, 405th), Helen Horn (411th, 57:12), Christopher Jones (413th, 57:20), Bev Trilloe (415th, 57:21), Angela Wheeler (1:00:01, 444th), Heather Swan (455th, 1:00:03) and Kelly Finney (1:01:46, 468th) completed the entry.
